Short Biography

Sami Makki is a French Assistant Professor in political science at Lille Institute of Economics and Political Studies (Sciences Po Lille- France) and associate reseacher at CERAPS-Lille 2.

He holds a PhD in political sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris (2008). Between 2008 and 2012, he was research coordinator in charge of the Transformation of War programme at the Centre for African Studies at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (CEAf/EHESS).

He teaches International security and Strategic studies in Paris (La Sorbonne) and at Sciences Po Lille where he heads a Master’s degree in International Security. He is the author of numerous articles and of Militarisation of Humanitarianism, Privatisation of the Military, Cahier d’études stratégiques n°36-37, Paris, CIRPES-EHESS, 2004 and et Sociétés en guerres. Ethnographies des mobilisations violentes, Paris, éd. de la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, 2012, 293 p. (coed. With Professor Bazenguissa-Ganga).
